Some branding design work from my internship at POH.

Project Summary

I was tasked to create a multitude of fliers, slides, and branding templates that the kitchen/store was asking for. A lot of the current fliers they were using were not on brand with the company. They needed something that could be edited in the future to change any information, pictures, or content.

In this portfolio, I included a lot of the branding templates I did, but not all of them.

Project Objective

  • Create updated, branded material for the kitchen/store.

  • Use Canva to make templates that can be changed and updated if needed.

  •  Make easy to use for people who are not as familar with design.

Target Audience

Project Open Hand’s audience, people 50+ years old, and people with disabilities.

Process: Informational Fliers

These informational fliers are planned to be used to show people important information fast. In the brief I was asked to make them three different sizes for a multitude of situations. I created the templates to look similar with the differences being in the color palettes. I made all the paragraph styles and pallettes based on the POH Branding Guidelines. All the images and text could be altered for the intended use.

Process: QR Code Flier

I was asked to create a flier to teach older users how to use a QR code. POH is incorporating more QR codes in the recipes, videos, and more. The issue is some people do not know how to use them. This flier is to be placed around the stores to help people learn. The create brief included the content that was needed for the flyer itself. Using the branded color palette, I wanted to make an info graphic flier that was easy to read and understand. I added details like the heart of the logo in the background to give texture. The image of the phone was added to quickly give context and catch people’s eyes. Since the flier was going to be printed in a 11” x 17” format, the text could be smaller while still being easy to read.

Process: Miscellaneous News Fliers

The purpose of these miscellaneous news fliers was to promote POH’s new bags. Although in the future, the content may be changes to fit in other situations. I was given the previous fliers for this to change to fit into the branding. One thing that was new for me was to also consider how these fliers would be used in different languages. I decided on using visual elements to give context on the words. In order to catch attention, I used the pink that is the main colors for the brand. Having these bright colors with the white words and pop up pictures will help people feel more inclined to look at the fliers and read the content.

Process: Recipe Cards

The creative brief I was given for all these projects included some examples of content I could use for the branded templates. I wanted to apply actual content to these templates so people can understand where things could go and change it if needed. On Canva I would lock elements that should not be moved: For example, logo, pictures, or boxes.

With the recipe cards, I used some of the recipes that were used before and added it to the branded template I made. These were going to be printed and then cut in half to save paper and printing. I wanted the ingredients to be a checklist for older users who may have trouble remembering what ingredients they need to get.

The second recipe is going to be used on the POH Youtube channel so it is a larger format and I could use more white space.

Process: Nutrition Class Slides

For this project, I needed to create branded slides for the Nutrition Classes that POH has for seniors and new employees. I used a lot of the brand color pallette, making each section color coded. Having sections being different colors help keep people’s attention and easily organize topics. I used a mix of placeholders and content to show future users what they can use the slides for. I also incorporated a lot of rounded circles and rectangles that are used throughout the brand.
